Location:

Located on the Pease River in southern Hardeman County and accessed by county maintained Star Valley Road, approximately 12 miles south of Quanah, Texas and 200 miles northwest of the DFW Metroplex.

Pease River Ranch Hideaway is an exceptional jewel of a ranch primarily because of its unique location. The ranch is accessed near the dead end of a county maintained road and is surrounded by several large tracts of land including the 1900 acre Copper Breaks State Park, the 140,000 acre Triangle Ranch, the Core of Engineers Foard County Ranch, and a couple other large private tracts of land. Pease River either borders or nearly borders most of the South and West sides of the property, providing an ample source of water and heavy vegetation for wildlife. The Hideaway Ranch consists of a variety of terrain from lower grassy plum thickets, scattered cottonwood/hackberry trees, and thick underbrush flats to cedar lined steep elevation changes of 150+ feet. The many hills and ravines on the ranch are primarily covered with cedar, scattered mesquite areas, hackberry and chinaberry thickets as well as several other forms of brush. Hunting on the ranch is outstanding with the opportunity to harvest trophy wildlife as well as enjoy recreational outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking, ranching, four-wheeling, camping, or horseback riding. Many years ago, there were three good sized cultivated fields on the ranch to help with livestock grazing. For the most part, these fields have been taken over by mesquite and dense grasses, but there are still plenty of acres that are clear enough to have several food plots in prime areas of the ranch. There are countless wonderful views overlooking the Pease River Valley below from the huge bluffs and elevated rock escarpments near the Southern portion of the property. From these areas and several other elevated sites on the ranch, you can see long distances and view game feeding areas below. The Hideaway Ranch is well watered in addition to the year round live water Pease River with several ponds, including one stocked with fish that is 8-10 acres when full and also covers up with waterfowl in the cold months of the year! Besides the current surface water on the property there is a natural very deep brushy draw that has steep rock walls on both sides and sheds lots of runoff water that would be excellent for constructing a nice size lake. A connecting dam from one wall to another with a spillway or drop pipe structure to ensure a good overflow method is all that is needed to create a deep canyon type lake. The current owner and tenants have been very careful not to overgraze the ranch in the recent drought years and have managed to maintain good grass growth throughout the property.
