Property Information

Lodge Creek Ranch
Clay County

Location:

Located in southern Clay County near the Jack County line on graveled Copeland and Gasoline Alley county roads, and approximately a 1.4-hour drive from Fort Worth, Texas, or 2 hours from Dallas, Texas.

Terrain:

The Lodge Creek Ranch is a phenomenal hunting and recreational property located in large ranch country. It is extremely diverse and has lots to offer. The location of the ranch is very important because it is in the transition area from mesquite to post oaks, offering flat terrain to more elevation, along with the beauty of hardwood trees as well as the cover and growing qualities of mesquite country. The terrain is primarily rolling, but in some areas there are more dramatic elevation changes with rock outcroppings and heavy hardwood timber.

The north and west sides of the ranch are mostly comprised of heavy bull mesquite thickets, which provide excellent cover and canopy with a few clearings throughout. During the colder days of the year, when food plots are planted in winter wheat, it is possible to view over 75 deer on the ranch. Whitetail deer in this area are known to range in the 130–180 class.

The eastern and southern sides of the ranch are mostly covered in heavy post oaks and scattered hackberry trees. These parts of the ranch are rolling and full of color from the beautiful trees. The large oaks are perfect for bow hunting setups and for natural turkey roosts. Both food plots on the ranch are huge deer magnets and come alive near sunrise and sunset.

Lodge Creek, a winding, rock-lined wet-weather creek, traverses the southeast portion of the ranch and only runs after rainfall for a few days. Several senderos along the creek were previously cut to provide shooting lanes in dense areas and for viewing wildlife. There are also several pools of water that provide an additional water source for wildlife and cattle, mostly year-round. One of the greatest attributes of Lodge Creek Ranch, besides the exceptional hunting, is the beautiful ponds and the fishing.

Each of the four ponds stocked with fish is totally different in appearance and surroundings and has its own appeal. Three of the ponds on the ranch are rock-lined, with huge rocks forming parts of the dams. The rock sides of the ponds provide a natural environment as well as excellent fish structure. Two of the large ponds are also supplemented by water wells year-round, so they always maintain a good level and have fresh water. During most of the year, the pond water is a beautiful dark blue color, ideal for raising healthy, large fish.

Improvements:

1,500 sq ft metal home with one bedroom and one bath, featuring an open-concept kitchen and living area; excellent steel cattle corrals; four water wells (two electric and two solar); four ponds (including two with excellent fishing); multiple premium deer blind and feeder setups; metal storage barn with three overhead doors; metal horse shed; excellent interior road system (two entrance roads have also been graveled to the main camp area, which is privately located near the center of the ranch); cedar-lined interior and exterior container at the main camp area, perfect for overflow lodging and/or storage; nice, clean area around the main camp; two steel entrance gates (west entrance is lined with cedar staves); good to excellent perimeter fencing; three established food plot areas.

Utilities onsite:

Electricity, water wells

Wildlife:

Whitetail deer, Rio Grande turkey, ducks, dove, bobwhite quail, wild hogs; excellent fishing in the ponds

Remarks:

This ranch has been meticulously managed and cared for for many years and is ready for any outdoor enthusiast.
