Location:
North central Texas in Wilbarger County on the Red River approximately 15 miles East of Vernon, Texas or 2.5 hours from Fort Worth, Texas.
Terrain:
The Red River Getaway Ranch is a prime recreational hunting ranch offering excellent hunting, outstanding views, lots of Red River frontage, expansive slough areas, and countless other outdoor activities. The river ranch location is key for the prime wildlife habitat and the expansive MILE of river frontage, bottomland, and diverse terrain make the river ranch a phenomenal hunting environment for all sorts of wildlife. The property is very secluded but has good access with a deeded sandy road easement that can access the property from two areas. As you move north on the ranch from the river bottom, there are several large draws that begin out of the landscape and are channeled toward the gamey Red River bottom. These draws are lined with huge hardwood trees as well as thick brush such as mesquite, hackberry, plum thickets, and various other brush. All sorts of wildlife are found travelling the draws from the field fields on top to the Red River valley below. Some areas below the big bluffs have live springs that form large pools of water in the lower land and provide outstanding duck hunting. Huge red bluffs lie between the deep draws and allow excellent viewing of the bottomland below as well as scenic river views toward Oklahoma. The current owner has strategically managed the ranch for several years as well as installed blind and feeder setups in the most opportunistic areas to view and hunt wildlife. In the Red River bottom area there is a huge duck slough surrounded with reeds and all sorts of good cover. In the winter months the waterfowl flock to this area and the water table here is just a few feet deep if the new owner wanted to expand this waterfowl area. This waterfowl area of the ranch could be easily made much larger because of the shallow water table. Water can be hit just a couple feet below the surface allowing the vegetative area to be flooded for even more phenomenal waterfowl environments. Ducks are also found on the Red River. The Red River ranch is a perfect getaway for the serious trophy hunter or a family ranch with activities for everyone. With a ranch offering so much, it is impossible to fully describe all the great advantages of this property and must be seen in person!
