Location:
Located in Wichita County 20 miles west of Wichita Falls, Texas, off Highway 25 and Turkey Creek Road, south of Highway 287, and 2 ½ hours from the DFW Metroplex.
Terrain:
Turkey Creek Ranch is beautiful multi-use cattle grazing and hunting property located in “big ranch country”. The 602 acres features almost one mile of Turkey Creek frontage meandering through the center of the property. The northern end of the ranch is more open and gives rise to wide valleys filled with lush native grasses ideally suited for cattle grazing. Several higher elevated areas over these valleys allow for stunning views of this “big ranch country” in all directions. The southern portion of Turkey Creek features more creek frontage along Highway 25 and has the hunter in mind. Bigger hardwood trees along the winding creek and the nearby Wichita River make this an excellent travel corridor for game such as turkey, wild hog, and trophy whitetail. With large ranches neighboring in this area of Texas, the 602 acres is a rare find and the wildlife hunting opportunities are limitless! In addition to the creek, 3 livestock ponds provide plenty of surface water for livestock plus a nice 3½ – 4 acre lake is located just southwest of the ranch headquarters. The clear water and sheer size make this a perfect fishing and waterfowl destination. The ranch headquarters is nicely appointed for the cattle rancher with multiple improvements including electrical service. The 40’ x 60’ main barn features concrete flooring with an enclosed section, a small fire previously discolored the outer skin of the building, but this section can be easily re-paneled as the metal framework was undamaged. A galvanized grain bin is conveniently located next to the barn near the main entrance. A large set of pipe cattle corrals/sorting pens with a loading ramp has been built next to Lazy J County Road and features a covered crowding alley and squeeze chute. This allows semi-trucks to easily move cattle in and out of the ranch. Two overhead feed bunks for onsite feed storage allow for feeding throughout the year. They are conveniently located south of the main corrals along with an elevated poly tank for watering livestock within the headquarters. Added amenities include a couple of out buildings such as a 2 bay trailer shed plus a loafing shed. Then just south of the cattle pens is a set of horse pens with framework that would only require a re-paneling job to add another shed for horses. Existing fencing is excellent with cross fencing to allow for rotational grazing. Turkey Creek Ranch is an outstanding value with multiple ranching improvements, outdoor recreation options, and beautiful vistas that will give new owners many options to enjoy this beautiful piece of North Texas.
