The Shady Creek River Ranch is a wonderful hunting and recreational getaway ranch. A large hardwood creek runs through most of the property providing excellent cover and roosting areas for wildlife. With the location of the food plot, between the brush and the river, it is very common to see lots of wildlife grazing the field in the morning and evening. The north end of the ranch falls off in to the Brazos River valley which is very thick with hackberry, mesquite, and salt cedars. The elevation change from the top of the bank to the river is over 60 feet and offers excellent views of the river bed below. The brick lodge is located near the entrance of the property allowing easy access without disturbing the bedding areas of wildlife in the thick creek and river areas. Shady Creek is a rock-lined seasonal creek that is very gamey and highly traveled by all sorts of wildlife. There are also two live springs on the ranch again making it well-watered. The cultivated part of the tract joins a 20 acre slough on the neighboring tract to the east which covers up with waterfowl in the colder months of the year.
