The CW West Ranch is a prime end of the road recreational ranch that offers a ton of year-round activities and is nestled between Possum Kingdom Lake and the Brazos River. The terrain on the CW West varies tremendously from grassy flats and valleys to rugged rocky hillsides with many areas of dramatic elevation changes. Besides the areas that have been strategically picked and cleared for grazing and food plots, the ranch is comprised of a mix of towering trees and brush including a variety of Post Oak, Live Oak, Elm, Cedar, Mesquite, and a few other various hardwoods. The tree cover is very dense throughout the ranch, providing prime cover for wildlife and colorful views. Wildlife is plentiful on the ranch and thrives because of the excellent food sources, feeding programs, and the abundance of water throughout the ranch. The cultivated food plots are planted in winter wheat in the fall and act as wildlife magnets in the cold months of the year which draws the animals out of the thick brush for viewing or harvesting. The surface water on the ranch is not only huge for the deer and livestock, but also makes the CW a waterfowl haven in the colder months of the year. Ducks are found by the hundreds on the larger bodies of water and nearly every pond has at least a few on them. Although there are many ponds on this tract of land, 4-5 of them are extremely nice ponds. Turkey is also very plentiful throughout the property and are often seen in very large groups. The current owner currently runs around 65 head of cows on the ranch and has been careful not to overgraze. This number could be increased in good moisture years or if a new owner wanted to supplement feed. Since the ranch has a good set of corrals and traps and is well cross-fenced, there are several options to create a good livestock program. The diversity of the terrain, vegetation, plentiful water, and great location of the ranch are just a few of the reasons to come take a look at the CW West Ranch.
