Terrain & Land Character

The Frey Ranch is primarily native rolling grass prairie with hardwood-lined creeks running through it. The topography is gently rolling across most of the ranch, which drains well and works well for both grazing and cattle operations. The native grasses have been well maintained across the property. Long Creek and its tributaries cross the ranch, creating hardwood corridors that break up the open prairie and provide good cover throughout.

Water Features

Surface water is abundant. The ranch has nineteen ponds scattered across the property, along with a small lake located just across from the headquarters. Long Creek and its tributaries also provide year-round water throughout the ranch.

Improvements

The headquarters is set along Highway 148 and has electrical service. There is a large barn with enclosed space and loafing areas suitable for horses or cattle. Adjacent pipe corrals include a loading alley, dipping vat, working chute, and scales. Two overhead bulk feeders for livestock are also on site. Fencing throughout the ranch is in good to excellent condition. The ranch is divided into multiple pastures with pipe-gated entrances.

Wildlife & Recreation

The hardwood corridors along Long Creek and its tributaries provide good habitat for trophy whitetail deer, Rio Grande turkey, wild hogs, and varmints. The ponds and creek bottoms also support dove, waterfowl, and fishing.
